Attorney Chris McCartan is a partner with Powers McCartan, pllc. Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, Mr. McCartan has been a North Carolina resident since 2002.

Mr. McCartan received his B.A. in Political Science from Syracuse University in 1998, and went on to obtain a Master of Public Administration degree from the university in 1998. While an undergrad, he was Captain of the Syracuse University Varsity Lacrosse team, which won the NCAA Division I National Championship. Mr. McCartan received his Juris Doctorate (JD) from University at Buffalo Law School in 2002.

After graduating from law school, Mr. McCartan moved to North Carolina and worked as an associate with Attorney Bill Powers. Because of his dedication and achievements in criminal defense, Mr. McCartan became a partner in the firm. He focuses on DWI and traffic defense as well as administrative license suspension issues with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 2002, Mr. McCartan is an active member of several professional associations, including the Cabarrus County Bar and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice. 

Outside of work, Mr. McCartan served as a two-term Chairman for the Cabarrus County Republican Party and was a member of the Party’s Board At-Large. He is a partner in a commercial real estate corporation that has two main holdings in Downtown Concord, one of which houses the Concord branch of Powers McCartan, pllc. Thanks to his lacrosse experience, Mr. McCartan serves as the Head Coach for Cabarrus County Clash, a county-wide lacrosse program.  He is also the Vice President of the Concord Downtown Development Corporation and Chairman of the Barber-Scotia College Board of Visitors.
