Before joining Powers McCartan, pllc Mr. Emry served as an Assistant Public Defender in Mecklenburg County from 2003 to 2005. In this position, he primarily defended felony drug and domestic violence cases, gaining experience handling all types of felony charges.
Being involved with legal organizations is important for any attorney. Mr. Emry is an active member of several professional associations, including the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (Criminal Law Section), and the Mecklenburg County Bar.
An avid basketball fan, Mr. Emry has coached youth basketball at Covenant Presbyterian Church for the last eight seasons. In the past, he helped coach in the Dilworth and Myers Park/Trinity Little Leagues. He has also volunteered as an on-the-course marshal for the Wells Fargo PGA Championship in Charlotte for the past six years. To prepare new generations of lawyers, Mr. Emry has taught LSAT and SAT for the Princeton Review since 2004.
