Each state has its own laws regarding driving under the influence. Some states call it DUI. Some states call it DWI. There are a few states that call it OWI or OUI which is operating under the influence versus driving while under the influence. There are distinctions between the legal limits. North Carolina for example is a .08. Other states may be higher. Other states maybe lower with certain types of restrictions. Each state is different and has its own laws but there are some general ideas that seem to be pretty consistent across the country regarding DWI laws.
