It's not that uncommon for people who are driving from out of state in North Carolina to get arrested for driving while impaired. First of all they’re not always familiar with the laws in North Carolina and therefore they’re not really sure they're breaking the law or not even intending to break the law. The case itself wherever you were arrested in (particular state such as North Carolina, county, or judicial jurisdiction) that's where the case takes place.

You don't get to go back home to your own jurisdiction, you have to travel back to North Carolina. North Carolina does report back to the other states, the other 49 states of this country, through something called the Interstate Compact. If you’re charged in North Carolina, you’ll be coming back here to handle the case.
